Complexul regal, care include un palat central cu un turn impresionant, numeroase cladiri, un parc cu terase, case de vara realizate din piatra si sprijinite pe coloane atent sculptate, un tron aflat sub un vechi copac – de unde regina Maria admira adesea apusul soarelui…
Dupa ani 1920, cam toti pictorii importanti au venit aici sa picteze:  Petrascu, Tonitza, Grigorescu, Darascu, Pallady, Ressu. De fapt intreaga boema bucuresteana se reunea la Balcik vara.
